Oppo legt technologie vast voor de ontwikkeling van een telefoon met een ronde pop-up camera en een triple camera met 15x Hybrid zoom functionaliteit.

Smartphonefabrikant Oppo is inmiddels alweer ruim twee jaar actief op de Nederlandse markt. Oppo smartphones staan bekend om hun goede camera specs, lange accuduur en razendsnelle oplaadtechnologie. Zo heeft Oppo verschillende smartphonemodellen in het assortiment met een 5x of zelfs 10x Hybrid zoom functie. Denk bijvoorbeeld aan de Oppo Reno 10x zoom, of de meer recentere Oppo Find X2 Pro – beide modellen hebben een groot 10x Hybrid zoombereik.
5x Hybrid zoom vinden we onder andere terug in de recent gelanceerde Reno 4 Pro. Dankzij Hybrid zoom functionaliteit is het mogelijk om elk onderwerp eenvoudig dichterbij te halen, zonder verlies van beeldkwaliteit.
Wat mogen we in de toekomst verwachten, zal de zoomfunctionaliteit bij de Reno 5 nog verder worden uitgebreid? Een nieuw patent toont aan dat Oppo wel degelijk de mogelijkheden onderzoekt om een 15x Hybrid zoomlens te integreren in de dunne behuizing van een smartphone.
Oppo Reno 5G telefoon met rond vormgegeven uitschuifbare camera
In april dit jaar heeft Guangdong Oppo Mobile Telecommunications een patent ingediend bij de WIPO (World Intellectual Property Office). Het octrooi genaamd ‘Terminal device’ werd op 12 november 2020 gepubliceerd en omschrijft een Oppo smartphone met een pop-up camera.
Een Oppo telefoon met een pop-up camera – dat hebben we natuurlijk eerder gezien. Zo wist Oppo naam te maken met haar innovatieve Reno-serie, mede dankzij de schuine haaienvin pop-up camera – deze werd onder andere toegepast bij de Reno 10x Zoom en de Reno 2.
Bij het gepatenteerde model gaat het opnieuw om een bijzonder vormgegeven pop-up camera, die zeker zal bijdragen aan de algehele styling van dit smart apparaat. Ditmaal heeft Oppo gebruik gemaakt van een halfronde draaischijf, die automatisch uit de behuizing komt als je selfies wilt maken of een videogesprek wilt voeren. In het ronde pop-up systeem wordt een front-camera en een flitser geplaatst.
Door gebruik te maken van een pop-up camera kan er een full screen ontwerp gecreëerd worden. De gehele voorzijde van deze Oppo telefoon bestaat dan ook uit schermoppervlak, wat het toestel een uiterst moderne uitstraling meegeeft. De schermranden zijn minimaal gehouden en de receiver is subtiel in de bovenste bezel geplaatst. Qua vormgeving zou het gepatenteerde toestel goed thuishoren binnen de Reno serie.
Volgend jaar worden overigens ook de eerste Oppo telefoons met een in-display camera verwacht. Desalniettemin zal deze nieuwe cameratechnologie zeker nog niet direct in alle modellen worden toegepast. Mogelijk dat de Oppo Find X3 het eerste toestel wordt met een selfiecamera onder het scherm.
Om de gepatenteerde Oppo telefoon wat leven in te blazen heeft de Nederlandse 3D designer Jermaine Smit, aka Concept Creator, voor LetsGoDigital een reeks product renders gemaakt op basis van het octrooi van Oppo. Deze beelden dienen uitsluitend ter illustratie, om een betere visualisatie te creëren van het design dat Oppo voor ogen heeft.
Oppo smartphone met triple camera met 15x Hybrid zoom
Op de achterzijde is een verticaal geplaatste triple camera zichtbaar. Dit camerasysteem is iets lager op de behuizing geplaatst dan normaal, dit heeft alles te maken met de halfronde schijf (oftewel het pop-up systeem), die intern veel ruimte opeist in het bovenste deel.
Door de drietal camera’s centraal in het midden van de behuizing te plaatsen is de kans ook beduidend kleiner dat je vingers per ongeluk voor de lens belanden – iets waar ik met de huidige smartphone modellen nog wel eens last van heb, nu nagenoeg alle fabrikanten hebben besloten om het camerasysteem in de linker bovenhoek te plaatsen.
In de patentdocumentatie wordt er gesproken over de integratie van een telecamera, groothoekcamera en een ultragroothoekcamera. Vervolgens wordt er ook nog dieper ingegaan op de optische zoomcamera, waarbij er melding wordt gemaakt van een 15x Hybrid zoom functie. Vooralsnog zijn er geen smartphones verkrijgbaar met zo’n groot Hybrid zoombereik.
De Hybrid zoom zal vergezeld worden door digitale zoom, om het zoombereik nog verder te kunnen vergroten. De documentatie verschaft echter geen duidelijkheid over de grootte van het digitale zoombereik.
De behuizing van deze telefoon kan gemaakt worden van glas, maar ook van metaal of keramiek. Oppo staat erom bekend veel aandacht te besteden aan de behuizing. Zo werd de Reno4 (Pro) voorzien van een bijzonder ‘Reno Glow’ design, waardoor de glazen behuizing beduidend krasbestendiger is en ook niet langer gevoelig is voor vingerafdrukken. Bij het huidige topmodel, de Find X2 Pro wordt er keuze geboden uit twee luxe varianten: een keramische achterzijde of een kunstleren afwerking.
Oppo INNO Day 2020
Of Oppo daadwerkelijk voornemens is om deze telefoon met ronde pop-up camera uit te brengen blijft vooralsnog afwachten. Morgen vindt INNO Day 2020 plaats, tijdens dit digitale event zal Oppo meer onthullen over de nieuwste technologische doorbraken – die komend jaar geïntegreerd zullen worden in de Oppo smartphone modellen.
Afgelopen week ontstonden er al geruchten dat Oppo tijdens dit event ook haar next-gen periscopische lens technologie zal onthullen, of deze ook 15x Hybrid zoom omvat blijft vooralsnog onbekend.
Waarschijnlijk zal ook de 125 Watt oplader en de 65 Watt AirVooc draadloze oplader aan bod komen, vermoedelijk zullen komend jaar de eerste Oppo telefoons geïntroduceerd worden met deze snelle oplaadtechnologie. De opladers zelf werden in juli dit jaar al aangekondigd. Daarnaast heeft het bedrijf via Twitter kenbaar gemaakt tijdens Oppo INNO Day 2020 ook aandacht te zullen besteden aan de nieuwe AR-bril, genaamd de Oppo AR Glass.
Al met al mag je de komende periode nog heel wat verwachten van deze innovatieve fabrikant. Zo gaat vandaag ook de eerste smartwatch van Oppo in de verkoop in Nederland, genaamd de Oppo Watch. Door niet alleen smartphones, maar ook andere smart apparaten te introduceren weet het bedrijf op slimme wijze haar ecosysteem uit te breiden.
Ondertussen werkt het bedrijf hard aan het creëren van een grotere naamsbekendheid in Europa. Zo kondigde Oppo Nederland afgelopen week aan een sponsor samenwerking aan te gaan met The voice of Holland seizoen 2020 / 2021. Middels deze sponsorpartnerschap wil Oppo een groter publiek kennis laten maken met de producten van het merk.
Wereldwijd staat het bedrijf al in de Top 5 best verkochte smartphonemerken ter wereld. De komende jaren wil Oppo ook in Europa haar marktaandeel verder uitbreiden, zo vertelde Alen Wu, Oppo’s Vice President en President of Global Sales afgelopen week in een exclusief interview met Nikkei Asia.
Hoewel het niet eenvoudig zal zijn om in de verzadigde smartphonemarkt extra marktaandeel te verkrijgen, lijken er ook duidelijke kansen te liggen. Temeer omdat Huawei al ruim een jaar gebukt gaat onder de strenge Amerikaanse sancties, die een duidelijke weerslag hebben op de verkoopaantallen van Huawei smartphones in Europa.
Als pioneer op het gebied van 5G en met een sterke focus op het design, de camera’s en batterij verwacht Oppo haar Europese marktaandeel de komende twee tot drie jaar te kunnen vergroten naar 10-15%. Vorig jaar was nog slechts 1% van alle telefoons die in Europa verkocht werden van Oppo, dit kwartaal ligt dat aantal al op zo’n 4%.

It's a really great package for that price. I love what Oppo and Realme have done to their OS, feels much snappier than OneUI or Miui(which I personally hate). It keeps just enough of the original Android while offering almost every extra customization option one might need.

BBK Electronics shipped a grand total of 199.3 million handsets worldwide in 2017, just behind giants Apple and Samsung who shipped 215.8 million and 317.7 million respectfully.
